Chillicothe's Molly Jones pitched
6 scoreless innings to lead the Lady Hornets to a 4-0 home win
over Lawson to open the 2015 softball season. Jones helped her
cause at the plate, going 2 for 3 with two singles and two
runs scored.
Jones reached first base with a single, driving in
Kaylee Rucker in the first inning. Jones later scored in the
first inning thanks to a Margo Young single and RBI.
Jones scored again in the 3rd inning, and Keely Eckert
scored in the 5th inning off a Rucker single and RBI.
All eight of Chillicothe's hits were singles, while
Lawson was able to pick up one double and seven singles, but
couldn't get any of them across the plate.
Coach Mike Jones, in picking up his first win as a head
coach, stated his team played a great game with superb defense
and hit the ball hard at times.
"It's nice to get this win under our belts" stated
