The Chillicothe Hornets Girls' Golf Team (4-1)
participated in the Smith-Cotton Girls Golf Classic on Monday at the
Sedalia Country Club. The Hornets placed 10th in the 16 team field.
Chillicothe had a team score of 434. Columbia Hickman won with a score of
320, Rock Bridge placed second with 329, followed by Helias at 368. Amber
Wilson of Camdenton was the medalist with a score of 68, Hickman had two
players shoot a 77, Maylie Holt and Danni Nichols.
Chillicothe sophomore Hannah Haakonstad led the Hornets
with her best performance of the season, shooting a 104. Hannah was able
to eliminate the bad holes and play consistently. Maddie Lamp shot a 106,
including a four on the par 4 number six hole. Lexi Hargrave, with a 111,
continues to hit the ball well. Hannah Sherrow shot 113, showing off her
recovery skills throughout the round, First year player, junior Jensen
Simmer experienced her first varsity competition. Jensen shot a 118,
including a three on the par 3 second hole. Jensen has good distance and
continues to bring it under control. Jensen has been working on chipping,
and it paid off today.
