  2013 - Chillicothe makes its longest pre-season trip in history when they travel to Knob Noster for the annual
pre-season jamboree. The team shows promise for a good season with wins against Richmond and Knob Noster and a JV loss to Smithville. The season would not fulfill the post-jamboree hope with a 4-6 final record, after opening with two straight wins.

2012 -
Chillicothe debuts their new state of the art football stadium in front of a packed grandstand. The game brings to an end the former stadium that was home to Chillicothe High School Football since 1931.
         Tyler Clampitt hits Mason Palmer with a 76 yard pass play for the first Hornets varsity touchdown in the stadium, but in the end a 63 yard run by Marshall in the 4th quarter spoils the opening game of the new facility with a 26-25 Owls victory.

 2010 - Junior Half Back Guy Vinson rushed for 103 yards and the opening score of the game in a season opening win at Marshall. Senior Fullback Nick Plummer scored in the 4th quarter and Alan Kline kicked a 22 yard field goal in the 4th quarter to secure the season opening win on the road.

2001 - Chillicothe used a strong defense in a 25-0 win at Smithville in the first August football game in Hornets history. Chillicothe had 12 sacks in the game led by Michael Wilson with 4.5 sacks. Smithville was held to a negative one yard rushing and 67 yards passing

2007 -Chillicothe scored on a 1 yard run in the 4th quarter but missed the conversion and lost to Maryville at home 20-18. The Maryville coaches in the press box were so loud and jumping up and down so much after the win, the KCHI Radio crew directly below them sincerely feared for their safety, worrying that the floor may give way and come down on top of them.

Lyle Buck scored on runs of 4 and 3 yards in a 14-7 Hornets win at Marshall. According to the Constitution-Tribune article from 1954, buck averaged 5.5 yards a try, was described as a pile driving runner and was selected 2nd team All District.<1954 season>
1965 - Butch Davis returned the season opening kick off 85 yards to the end zone as part of a 28-14 win over Carrollton. He also returned an interception for a touchdown and had a 14 yard touchdown run. Davis would star at MU as a defensive back and play in the NFL for Chicago and Green Bay <1965 season>
1976 - Chillicothe lost 5 fumbles and threw 1 interception in a 14-8 loss to Cameron. Two of the turnovers led to Cameron scores <1976 season>
1982 - Kelly Mason threw for 147 yards and 2 touchdowns in a 31-7 season opening win vs Cameron <1982 season>
1993 - St Louis Beaumont cancelled a game at Chillicothe citing travel problems. Chillicothe had beaten Beaumont in St Louis in 1992. <1993 season>

1947 - Chillicothe's Ed Rice scored on a 5 yard run in the 4th quarter to end a game with Carrollton a 6-6 tie after the PAT run was unsuccessful. Rice was a three sport star as a 2nd team all conference player in football, basketball and was on the conference champion 800 relay team in track.

1958 - Jody Conrad had four rushing touchdowns and an interception return for touchdown in a 38-6 win over Carrollton. Conrad would be an all  state honorable mention running back at the end of the season.

1969 - Chillicothe had three fumble recoveries on defense while Craig Wilson led the offense with 121 yards and 2 touchdowns in a 22-6 win over Carrollton

1975 -Doug Doughty kicked a first quarter field goal to help Chillicothe to a 17-13 win at Cameron. At Quarterback, Doughty went 1 for 4 for a minus-4 yards passing. <1975 season>
1997 - Chillicothe lost at home to Maryville 6-0 when a punt snap sailed over 6'6" punter Justin Bland's head, setting up the only score. It was the Hornets first time being shut out since the 1988 state championship game  <1997 season>

1963 - Chillicothe's Van Swearingen kicked a field goal and had a 49 yard touchdown run in a 10-7
win over Carrollton. He would be named  All District Honorable Mention at Running Back

1968 - In his first varsity pass attempt, Hornets Sophomore QB Brent Anderson threw an interception that was returned 95 yards for a Carrollton touchdown. Chillicothe would go on to win the game 25-7 and Anderson went on to set several school passing records that still stand today, had a varsity record of 28-0-1 and led the Hornets to a 1970 state championship and named all state QB 2 years.

1980 - Chillicothe's Rick Craighead had 170 yards rushing including an 87 yard TD in a 28-0 win over Cameron. The game was played on Saturday after being rained out the night before <1980 season>
1985 - Les Swift had 175 yards rushing and 3 scores in a Hornets 41-0 win at Trenton. Chad Snyder threw second half touchdown passes to Kevin Fender and Bill Shaffer <1985 season>
1996 - Billy Penniston caught a touchdown pass with 5 seconds left in the 1st half in a 7-6 win at the "Turnover Game" at Maryville. Chillicothe recovered 6 fumbles but threw 5 interceptions and lost 1 fumble. <1996 season>
2003 - Chillicothe had 337 yards rushing on 66 carries in a 35-7 win at KC O'Hara, led by Brent Christopher with 171 yards on 16 carries. . <2003 season>

1951 - Chillicothe suffered it's only post-game forfeited loss in program history when a 7-6 win over Milan was overturned when it was discovered the Hornets Senior fullback had dropped out as a freshman,  it was determined he attended long enough it to count as a semester, making this season opening game his 9th semester and thus ineligible  <1951 season>
1956 - Hugh Carlin scored on runs of 48 and 70 yards in the first quarter of a 19-6 win over Smithville. At the end of the season he earned all state honorable mention honors at running back

1962 - David Austin scored from 1 yard out in the rain to tied Carrollton 6-6 in the season opener. The Hornets would follow this game with back to back scoreless ties to start the season at 0-0-3 and end at 3-3-3

1952 - Ron O'Dell threw a 46 yard touchdown and had a 5 yard touchdown run as part of an 18-0 win at Unionville <1952 season>
1969 - Junior Ardell Johnson tied a school record with a 95 yard touchdown run in the 4th qurter in a 38-6 win over Lafayette. The Hornets had 318 yards rushing and 103 passing. Johnson would go on to start at University of Nebraska as a defensive back and had was drafted by the Washington Redskins but elected to return to graduate school to become a lawyer.

The Hornets Keith Felhoelter had a pass interception that led to a touchdown in a 14-6 win over Helias, which passed for 200 yards but had two interceptions and lost one fumble.

2003 - Twos were wild in a 38-6 win over KC Westport. Halfback Clint Macoubrie had 2 touchdowns, Fullback Jerald Potter had 2 touchdowns and Trent Figg had 2 interceptions on defense. <2003 season>

LeBlond scored a touchdown with under 2 minutes left then kicked a field goal on the last play of the game to beat Chillicothe 25-23 in St Joseph  <2014 season>

- Norman Jewell had two touchdown runs in a 27-0 win over Unionville. The Hornets defense recovered four fumbles and had one interception <1957 season>
1963 - Dave Kincade turned his first varsity carry into a 17 yard touchdown in a 10-6 win at Lafayette <1963 season>
1968 -
Buddy Beetsma had 4 interceptions in a 34-0 win over Lafayette. The Irish Quarterback completed as many passes to Beetsma as he did to his fellow teammates going 4 of 15 for 31 yards. Beetsma would set a record with 9 interceptions that year, which stood for 10 years. His career total of 12 wouldn't be broken until Tyler Clampitt did it in 2012-13. <1968 season>
1985 -
Jason Graves had a 27 yard field goal in the 3rd quarter in a 9-6 win at Marshall. Graves would be one of only 2 players in Missouri high school history to be named to the All State Team in three positions in one year. <1985 season>
2013 -
Matt Shaffer recovered a fumble and 4 plays later Zack Alperin kicked the game winning field goal in a 17-14 win at Cameron <2013 season>

1945 - Bob Peacher threw a 10 yard pass to Jim Berry to help Chillicothe to a 12-6 win at Milan. Carl Whitacre, best known as a Track State Champion, had the game winning touchdown in the 3rd quarter.

1956 - Four different players scored for Chillicothe in a 26-0 win at Unionville. The Hornets held Unionville to just 2 first downs, 33 yards rushing and 48 yards passing. Francis Anderson started the scoring for the Hornets with an Offensive fumble recovery touchdown

1962 - Chillicothe and Lafayette each had 100 yards of offense in a scoreless tie. It was the second of three ties for Chillicothe to start the season

1996 - Nick Brinkley completed two passes to Brett Hecker in a 25-6 win at Cameron. Brinkely finished with 133 yards passing and Hecker had 117 yards receiving in the game

1922 - Harold Arnold had a 20 yard fumble return but Braymer rallied to score twice in the 4th quarter to beat Chillicothe 18-7 in the opening game of the season <1922 season>
1938 - Junior Darr had a 19 yard touchdown in the 2nd quarter in a 6-0 win over Richmond. Darr would play football for Mizzou and Purdue, then had a try out with the Baltimore Colts in 1947 but suffered a preseason injury and left professional football.  <1938 season>
1950 - Chillicothe fumbled inside the 5 yard line with one minute left and lost at Unionville 13-12 <1950 season>
1972 - Hornets Running Back Mark Putnam had 130 of the team's 205 yards rushing in a 26-7 win over Marshall. The passing game wasn't quite as effective, going 1 for 7 for a negative 7 yards.

1989 - Half Back David White threw three touchdown passes and had two touchdown runs in a 50-20 Chillicothe win at St Joseph Central <1989 season>

1995 - Justin Walter returned the opening kick off for an 88 yard touchdown in a 46-19 win at Savannah. He also had a 25 yard touchdown reception and a 14 yard touchdown run all in the first half. <1995 season>

1915 - The season opened with a 16-0 loss to an Alumni team of former Hornet players. All of the scoring took place in the second half including an 85 yard touchdown The team finished 1-4 on the season with the only win coming against a team of students who challenged the team at the end of the season <1915 season>
1937 - Chillicothe right halfback Lowell Owen scored on a 65 yard run in the 4th quarter in a 13-6 win at Richmond <1937 season>
1955 - Dave Peterie had a 93 yard interception return for a first quarter touchdown to tie the game at 6-6 against Unionville. It would be the last score of the game <1955 season>
1966 - Chillicothe had a blocked punt  recover, a blocked punt  return and an interception all in the 4th quarter in a 34-0 win at Marceline <1966 season>
1977 - Marshall scored on a 5 yard run with 2:03 left in the game to beat Chillicothe 8-0

2000 - Halfback Ethan Dockery completed a 5 yard touchdown pass to Levi Yardley, with Alex Minnis kicking the extra point to beat #9 ranked Savannah 13-12. The Savages, a semi-finalist the previous year, were stopped by the Hornets defense at the 1 yard line on the final play of the game to secure the win. The game was played on a Saturday after being rained out the previous night.

1920 - Chillicothe's Left Halfback Bobby Castle ran for five touchdowns in a 56-0 win over Maysville. <1920 Season>
1942 - Roger Englert and Harold Ashbrook each had 2 touchdown runs and each returned an interception for a touchdown in a 40-6 afternoon season opening win against Cameron. <1942 season>
1943 - Tom Saale had 2 touchdowns and Larry Saale had 1 in a 27-6 season opening win over Hamilton <1943 season>

1948 - Chillicothe had touchdowns from Sonny Kenny, Dale Brown and John Grace in a 21-6 win at Unionville. All three extra point conversions were passes <1948 season>

1965 - Butch Davis had all three touchdowns in a 22-0 win over Marceline. Davis would go on to be a starting Defensive Back for University of Missouri then would play several years in the NFL for Chicago and Green Bay. <1965 season>
1976 - Quarterback Kent Hanan threw a touchdown pass and ran for a touchdown in a 14-8 win over Marshall <1976 season>
1999 - David Wolf threw for two touchdowns in the first quarter and a third one in the fourth quarter in a 42-0 win at Smithville <1999 season>

2004 - St Joseph Benton scored the first points in the game but Chillicothe cranked it up in a 52-18 Hornets win <2004 season>

1953 - Chillicothe rushed for 210 yards and passed for 134 yards in a 25-6 Conference win over Unionville <1953 season>
1959 - Vince Turner rushed for two touchdowns and caught two Butch Clark touchdown passes in a 33-7 win over Marceline. The Hornets had 182 passing yards in just 5 completions

1970 - Chillicothe's defense had two interceptions and 3 fumble recoveries while holding their opponent to just 29 total yards in a 40-6 win over Kansas City Central

1981 - Kelly Mason hit Shawn Benson for a 5 yard touchdown pass to beat Jefferson City Helias 23-16 in overtime <1981 season>
1987 - David White had 144 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns plus a pick 6 on defense in a 35-0 win over Maryville. Mike Jones also had a 15 yard blocked punt return for a touchdown
