District Tournament at Boonville
Boonville 6, Chillicothe 2 |
Chillicothe
ended their season with an 6-2 loss to Boonville in an opening game
in the District Tournament at Boonville. Chillicothe scored first in
the 6th minute by Grant Peterson with an assist by Nate Pryor,
Boonville scored three in the first half to lead 3-1 at
intermission.
Peterson found the goal again in the 51st minute off an
assist by Mason Munson to close the gap to 3-2 but could get no
closer. Coach Bill Allison said it was a tough situation for his
Hornets. "Colton Whiteside was unable to make the trip due to
illness, the third time this season that illness has taken him away
from playing." Allison also said the turf of Boonville and a
gusty wind played into the hands of the Boonville Pirates.
Alison was optimistic about the future of the team.
"This game brought the end fo the Hornets season finishing at 3-14,
with 1 win in conference and severfal questions to be asked what
might it of been if it was not for all the injuries that happened
away from the field. It did provide a lot of playing time for the
freshmen, who improved throughout the season."
