The scoring was fast and furious at the start of the game
before settling down to a normal pace in a 35-21 Chillicothe
loss to the Maryville Spoofhounds. It marks the fourth straight
loss for Chillicothe, who's defense is allowing 25.75 points
per game, the highest in school history.
Maryville's Gavin Talmadge took the first hand off of
the game 70 yards for a touchdown and a 7-point lead that
lasted 14 seconds. Chillicothe's Guy Vinson took the kick off
and returned it 87 yards to tie the score at 7-7 just 34
seconds into the game.
The Hornets took the lead with 8:04 left in the first
quarter when QB Jacob Lewis rolled right, spun out of two
tacklers arms and went 81 yards for the score and a 14-7 lead.
Maryville's Talmadge had the second of three touchdowns
on a 44 yard run less than two minutes later. The Spoofhounds,
who finished with 411 yards, led 20-14 at the halftime.
Chillicothe scored on their opening drive of the third
quarter to take a 21-20 lead, but just like Savannah two weeks
earlier, Maryville scored twice in the fourth quarter for the
win.
Chillicothe lost two key fumbles and threw one
interception with seconds left in the game.
