A football season that started with a large amount of youth and
inexperience, then hampered by a long string of injuries was
recapped at the annual Hornets Football Banquet.
Head coach Phil Willard told the players and parents
that the underclassmen must spend time improving their strength,
their speed and their football IQ. Willard stated the Hornets are
the only school in the MEC that does NOT have a full seven classes
of weightlifting as part of their curriculum, putting them behind
the rest of the conference. Willard stated any recent success on the
football field has been primarily due to the heart and determination
of the players.
Willard encouraged all football players to be multiple
sport athletes, and those not in winter sports should spend time in
the weight room before and after school lifting under the
supervision of coaches.
