- Savannah 38, Chillicothe 19
Savannah scored on their opening drive, going 72 yards capped
by a 1 yard QB keeper.
Chillicothe answered when Jacob Lewis found Guy Vinson
down the middle for a 51 yard score, but the kick failed.
Savannah responded with an opening kick off return down to the
Chillicothe 26 yard line and 5 plays later Zane Wilt had his
first of four TD passes to take a 14-6 lead.
The Hornets put together a 16 play, 90 yard drive in
the second that ended with a Jacob Lewis 1 yard run but the
conversion failed and the Hornets trailed by 2. Savannah
scored twice in the final four minutes on TD passes to lead
28-12 at the half.
In the fourth, Savannah kicked a 26 yard field goal and
connected on a 71 yard TD pass to lead 38-12. Chillicothe
Sophomore QB Tyler Clampitt, who played much of the second
half, engineered an 81 yard drive that ended with a DJ Gannan
7 yard touchdown for the final score of 38-19.
Lewis and Clampitt combined for 6 of 19 for 116 yards,
one touchdown and one interception. Guy Vinson led the ground
game with 131 of the team’s 220 yards passing.
Savannah, now 5-1, went 10 of 18 for 219 yards and 4
TDs passing and 166 yards rushing. There were no fumbles in
the game. |
