Chillicothe 30, at Macon 8
<Game Pictures>
Tyler Clampitt scored on a pick six and Tyler Long scored
three touchdowns to help the Chillicothe Hornets down
4th seed Macon Tigers 30 - 8 in the opening round of the
District Tournament. Chillicothe benefited from five
turnovers in the game with 3 interceptions and 2 fumble
recoveries.
Chillicothe scored on their second series of the game
when a drive stalled at the eight yard line, forcing the
Hornets DJ Gannan to kick a 29 yard field goal. Macon's
next drive stalled as well but they missed a 28 yard field
goal.
Two plays later Macon picked off a Clampitt pass, but
on the next play the Hornets Defensive Tackle Tommy
Kincaid ended up with his second interception of the
season. Long scored with 3:06 left in the first half on a
7 yard run and five plays later Clampitt had the pick six
to lead 16-0. The lead would hold up until the 4th quarter
when a Chillicothe fumble turned into a Macon 47 yard pass
play three plays later to make the score 16-8.
Chillicothe, with a full, healthy roster for the
first time all season, refused to have a let down. Four
plays after the Macon score, Clampitt found Long for a 50
yard strike. The Hornets added an insurance touchdown when
a drive was set up by a Gillen Gates interception return.
It took the Hornets just three plays to go 22 yards,
capped by Long's 3rd touchdown on the night.
With the win, Chillicothe heads to California, MO on
Halloween to take on the 10-0 Pintos in a first ever
meeting. |
