California's Senior Running Back Anthony Price took the
first hand off from scrimmage 72 yards for a touchdown.
Luckily for Chillicothe a flag brought it all back and on
his next carry, Chillicothe Linebacker Cole Nichols
crushed him with a bone jarring hit for a five yard loss.
Unfortunately that would be about the only time
Chillicothe would stop the talented California running
back who ended up with 10 carries and 154 yards and two
touchdowns in a 42-0 romp over Chillicothe.
The Hornets had their moments of greatness on defense
including an interception by Tyler Clampitt and a fumble
recovery by Luke Plummer, but the moments of greatness
were few and far between against a big, strong and fast
Pintos team.
California scored on a 52 yard Price run on their
second series of the game, and later in the 1st quarter on
a two-yard run by Dylan Albertson, son of head coach Marty
Albertson. The Albertson score was set up by a 42 yard
pass play to an open receiver on the sideline. California
scored again on the first play of the second quarter to
increase their lead to 21-0. Another Albertson and another
Price touchdown of 38 yards to lead 35-0 at the half.
Albertson's third touchdown on the night finished out the
scoring midway through the third quarter.
Chillicothe struggled to get their offense going, with
just 5 first downs in the game, and failing to get inside
the 30 yard line. Key injuries also mounted with RB/DB
Mason Palmer lost in the 1st quarter on knee injury on a
kick off return, and QB/DB Tyler Clampitt lost in the 2nd
quarter when, during an attempted screen pass out of the
end zone, he was hit and driven into the goalpost,
injuring his back.
Chillicothe finished the record at 3-8 while California
moves on with an 11-0 record |
