at Savannah Tournament
<complete
season scores>
Platte County's
6-5 beast Jesse Eggers scored 26 points to lead the Pirates to a
65-51 win over Chillicothe in the opening round of the Savannah
Tournament. Eggers hit 7 of the team's first 9 points and never left
up, hitting 9 of 12 inside shots and of 10 from the free throw
line.
Platte County built a 10 point lead late in the second
quarter, but the Hornets hit back treys to end the first half then
continued the hot streak in the third, putting together a 13-0 run
to give the Hornets a 3 point lead. Unfortunately, that was answered
by Platte County's own 13-0 run to take back their 10 point lead.
Chillicothe whittled it down to 3 points twice, but
could get no closer. One key turning point in the game was Trent
Moore getting a basket and what appeared to be a foul on Platte
County. However, the official called a tie-up jump ball prior to the
shot with the possession arrow going to Platte County. The Pirates
scored a trey to spark the final push.
Platte County had a definite height advantage, rotating
in five players that ranged from 6'4" to 6'7" to clog up the middle.
The Hornets went to the outside game, hitting 9 of 24 three point
attempts.
Chillicothe was with out starter Tyler Clampitt, who is
sidelined with a non-sports injury. |
