Three weeks ago, St Joseph Lafayette steamrolled over
Chillicothe with a 68-30 victory in the regular season. In the
district semifinal, the winner was the same but the score was
much closer as Lafayette beat Chillicothe 54-40 in the
district semifinals at Lafayette.
Chillicothe built a 7 point lead in the middle of the
1st quarter when Lafayette took a time out. It was an
effective pause as Lafayette responded with a 15-0 run and led
the rest of the game.
Lafayette led by 7 at half. Chillicothe cut the
lead to 4 early in the 3rd but again turned cold, giving up a
13-2 run. The Irish built the lead to 20 early in the 4th
quarter but Chillicothe refused to roll over, continuing to
fight and cut the lead to 11 several times in the 4th quarter
before sending Lafayette to the free throw line several times
in the final minute.
