The
Hornets used a strong running game to handle Kirksville
42- at home. Chillicothe's DeEll Midgyett (Junior) went
11/132 and Tyler Long (Senior) had 21/115 to help the
Hornets rack up 307 yards rushing and 5 touchdowns on the
ground.
After holding Kirksville on their opening drive,
Chillicothe went 46 yards in four plays that ended with a
DeEll Midgyett 13 yard run off the left side to take an
early 7-0 lead.
A Tyler Clampitt interception at the five yard line set
up the next score. Five plays after the INT, Clampitt went
deep, hit Walker Thomas on a sideline pattern in full
stride. Thomas went the rest of the way into the end zone
for an 81 yard pass play.
Chillicothe scored twice in the second quarter on a
pair of Tyler Long one yard runs, the second came with one
minute left in the half. Kirksville tried to get to the
end zone before halftime but the Hornets prevent defense
gave up some yards but protected the promised land.
The Hornets recovered a Kirksville on-sides kick off
attempt to start the second half and four plays later
Clampitt scored from one yard out. DeEll Midgyett, who had
a 43 yard run in the drive, also ran in the conversion for
a 35-0 lead.
Kirksville's only successful drive was put together
after the kick off with 7 passing and one running play,
capped by a 44 yard touchdown pass.
Chillicothe finished the scoring with a Tyler Clampitt
4 yard run.
Chillicothe's defense again played well, allowing just
240 total yards. In addition to Clampitt's interception,
Hayden Major (Junior) had an interception and long return
and Troy Deyeo (Junior) had a fumble recovery late in the
