A
costly turnover late in the first half and a big play
early in the 3rd quarter spelled doom for Chillicothe, who
lost to Maryville 32-7.
The teams were locked in a defensive battle until Cole
Nichols intercepted a Maryville pass near the five yard
line. However two plays later a bobbled snap gave the ball
back to Maryville on the 9 yard line. Four plays later
they found the end zone with less than a minute left in
the half to lead 6-0 after a blocked extra point by
Nichols.
After holding Chillicothe in the opening drive of the
second half, Maryville handed off to reserve back Dakota
Beemer who went 41 yards to take a 12-0 lead and start to
pull away. Two more touchdowns in the 3rd made it 26-0 and
one in the fourth made it 32-0 for the Spoofhounds.
Chillicothe's score came late in the fourth when Tyler
Long ran it in from 15 yards out after a 12 play 65 yard
drive. It was the first points allowed by Maryville this
season.
