Fulton scored on a 4 yard pass with 33 seconds left to end
Chillicothe's football season with a 34-30 district first
round game victory in Chillicothe. Fulton started the game
strong to build an 18-0 lead in the first half.
Chillicothe scored in the final play of the first half
when Tyler Clampitt found Zach Alperin in the corner of
the end zone for a 13 yard strike to close the gap to 18-7
at halftime.
The Hornets took the second half kick off and put
together a 5 play 61 yard drive that ended with a DeEll
Midgyett run. A 2 point conversion made it 18-15 Fulton.
Fulton answered with an 8 play 64 yard drive that
included an 18 yard pass and a 31 yard pass to set up a
1st and goal on the 4 yard line. Kegan Lee ran it in on
the next play for his second touchdown on the night and a
26-15 Fulton lead.
Chillicothe didn't let up, going 61 yards in 10 plays
that ended with a 1 yard Tyler Long plunge. The conversion
run was good and Chillicothe closed it again to 3 points
with 2:10 left in the third.
After stopping two Fulton drives, Chillicothe took over
with 8:31 left in the game on the 7 yard line. Mixing the
pass with the run, Clampitt hit Hayden Major on the right
side flats. Major was hit but maintained his balance,
fought through the prospective tackle and turned in a 35
yard play down to the 30. On the next play, DeEll Midgyett
raced down the right side line and took out the end zone
pylon as he was pushed out of bounds, giving the Hornets a
30-26 lead with 4:50 left in the game.
Fulton took over on the 34 yard line. After a QB sack,
they hit an 11 yard pass on second down and on 3rd and 1
Kegan Lee rambled 40 yards down to the CHS 19 yard line.
Four plays later they had a 1st and goal on the 8 and two
plays after that scored the winning touchdown.
Chillicothe had 33 seconds to work with and took over on the
47 yard line after the kick off. Three straight
incompletions and a DeEll Midgyett run up the middle that
gained no yards bought the game and the Chillicothe season
to an end. |
