A player that everyone
thought had fouled out proved to be the difference when
Lafayette defeated Chillicothe 43-40 in the semifinals of the
Savannah tournament.
In the 4th quarter, Ashley Hinkle picked up what was put on
the scoreboard, and on almost everyone's score sheet, as her
5th foul. However, late in the game, Hinkle was allowed to
come back into the game after the "official" scorekeeper had
her with only four fouls. Hinkle hit two key free throws that
increased the lead and helped Lafayette to the win
The game started slow with the first points coming off
Maggie Graves free throws 3 minutes into the game. Chillicothe
managed just five free throws in the first quarter, while
Lafayette managed just one field goal in the first quarter.
Chillicothe tied the game twice in the 3rd and once in
the 4th quarter before taking a lead late in the game on a
Hannah Jones trey, but Lafayette ended with four straight
points and the three point victory |
