Chillicothe used the free
throw line and treys at key times to build a 16 point lead,
then hung on to escape Moberly with a 57-52 win. The Lady
Hornets hit 7 of 12 free throws in the first quarter to take a
7 point lead in the game. Freshman Hannah Jones hit three of
her four treys in the second quarter to build a 10 point lead
at half.
The Lady Hornets led by 16 points late in the third
quarter, but Moberly hit a free throw followed by a basket to
end the quarter. That was the start of a 9-2 run that closed
the game to 7 points. Chillicothe built a 13 point lead midway
through the fourth quarter before Moberly again started
whittling away at the score. Chillicothe hung on for the win,
and allowed Moberly an uncontested lay up at the buzzer to
make the final score a 5 point win. |
