The Chillicothe Lady Hornets scored the first 12 points
in the game and went on to beat Kirksville 73-59 in
Chillicothe. The 73 points was the most for a Lady Hornets
team since the district opener in 2003 when Chillicothe lost
to Excelsior Springs 74-73.
The quick start by Chillicothe included a pair of treys
in the first quarter from 6'0 Freshman Katelyn Parkey who had
10 of her 18 points in the 1st quarter. Kirksville's first
basket came with 4:13 left in the 1st quarter and they quickly
closed the game to four points, however Chillicothe answered
with an 8-0 run and led by double figures most of the rest of
the game.
Kirksville closed the game to 8 points twice in the
third and once in the fourth, but the Lady Hornets fought off
numerous whistles to pull away once again, leading by 17
points late in the game. |
