For the second straight game Chillicothe started strong
and built an early lead and force the opposing coach to call
an early time out. And for the second straight game. the
opponent went on a run, took the lead, and handed Chillicothe
a loss.
Chillicothe built a 10-2 lead only to have Lafayette go
on a 10-0 run and end the quarter with a two point lead. The
teams traded baskets for all of the second and most of the
third quarter. Late in the third, Chillicothe cut the lead to
one point, only to have Lafayette's 6'2" Freshman Ashlyn
Dotson get fouled on a basket and turn a three point play.
Moments later, Lafayette's Shay Ward hit a trey at the end of
the quarter to take a 7 point lead into the fourth quarter and
Chillicothe could not recover.
Chillicothe closed the game to six points in the
fourth, but couldn't capitalize on key opportunities in the
final minutes of the game. |
