The Chillicothe Lady Hornets
used a strong second quarter to help them to a 57-43 MEC home
win over Lafayette. Chillicothe used a balanced offensive
attack with Hannah Jones hitting 15 points, Maggie Graves and
Katelyn Parkey with 13 each.
According to statistics kept by Paul Sturm with the
Constitution Tribune, Chillicothe went on a 20-4 run from 12
seconds left in the 1st quarter to 2:20 left in the 3rd
quarter. Chillicothe led by 19 points late in third but
Lafayette hit back to back treys to close the game. The Lady
Irish closed the game to 6 points early in the fourth quarter
but could get no closer.
Chillicothe also did a good job handling the ball with
just six turnovers compared to Lafayette's 15, according to
Sturm.
The Chillicothe win avenged losses to Lafayette in the
Savannah and Kearney tournaments. |
