The Chillicothe Hornets Girls Golf team opened the season
finishing third in the 12 team Best Ball Tournament held at the Mozingo
Golf Course in Maryville. Each team was allowed six players (three, two
person teams) and the top two best ball scores from each school were added
for a team total. Chillicothe sophomore Gabby Hapes and freshman Saige
Angst were unable to attend, so the Hornets had fours players and two
Best-Ball teams. Hornet's post a team score of 185 with scores from Hallie
Jones and Maddie Lamp (91) and from Hannah Haakonstad and Riley Brobst
(94), 185 is an improvement of five strokes from the 2017 score. Stanberry
took first place with a 174 followed by Maryville's score of 175. Emily
Long of Maryville won the individual medalist, with a score of 84.
The Hornets finished in third place for the second
straight year. Sophomore Hallie Jones placed fifth overall out of 66
players, with a score of 95. Hallie parred holes one, two, eight, and
fourteen. The windy conditions made the course much tougher this year.
Senior Riley Brobst placed just outside of the top ten (and medaling) in
eleventh place with a score of 103. Seniors Hannah Haakonstad and Maddie
Lamp placed twentieth and twenty-third respectively with scores of 109 and
