at Chillicothe 57, Benton 54
Benton missed a game tying trey from top of the key at the
buzzer to give Chillicothe a 57-54 come from behind home
conference win.
Chillicothe took the lead for good when Westley
Brandsgaard hit two free throws with 2:27 left for a one point
lead. CJ Pfaff hit a left win trey but Benton's Chol Ater
answered return the score to just a one point CHS lead.
Pfaff again gave his team a 3 point lead with two free
throws, but Benton answered it again with a two point shot
with 19 seconds left.
Brandsgaard again hit two free throws with 10 seconds
left.
Benton's final chance came after a time out. With 4 seconds
left, Benton in-bounded the ball between their bench and the
scorers table. The Hornets defense forced Benton to go back
court to get the ball in bounds, costing valuable seconds
before Malique Bennett took a rushed top of the key trey at
the buzzer which was no good.
Chillicothe built a nine point lead in the third quarter but
Benton battled back to lead by one at the end of the third
quarter. |
