Coach Bob Long Says:
The Chillicothe Hornets Girls' Tennis Team (7-1) placed second in the eight team Tiger Classic Invitational Tournament in Excelsior Springs. The Hornet seniors led the day by taking first place in number one singles (Macy Cavanah) and first place in number one doubles (Hunter Keithley/Hannah Zimmerman). Macy was 24-2 on the day, including a victory against Kearney's number one player. Hunter Keithley and Hannah Zimmerman came from behind in the final, 1-3, to eventually defeat the Kearney team 6-4. Junior Delaney May in singles and sophomores Leah Lourenco and Olivia Anderson in doubles placed second in number two singles and number three doubles. Junior Megan Sisson and freshman Cami Carpenter, after a three-way tie for first place in their pool and losing the tie-breaker, placed fifth by winning their final match against Odessa 7-5. Kearney won the tournament, barely edging out Chillicothe.
