Coach Jennifer Dickson Comments:
Very happy & excited the girls' team & Hayden
were able to experience the State XC Meet. They worked hard all summer &
season with that goal in mind. We are grateful for that opportunity and
the girls are already talking about goals next year & how we get back
there, but our goal is to bring everyone next time!
It was a hot day, but they ran hard and out of our 6 runners we came away
with 3 PR's and 4 top 100 finishes! I could not be more proud of them and
their dedication & drive to running & their team. It was a wonderful
experience and it has fueled their passion for this sport and the future
of the program.
The first Chillicothe Lady Hornets cross country team
to qualify for state since 1987 finished in 15th place with 336 points. St
Louis John Burroughs won the team title with 59 points and fellow MEC
School St Pius X finished in 10th place in Class 3.
For the Lady Hornets, Aliyah Briner was 50th overall in
a time of 22:52, Kadence Shipers was 89th in 22:53, Julian Gabrielson
finished 97th in 23:06, Kaylynn Cranmer was 141st in 25:37 and Emily
Shipers was 151st in 29:59 out of 156 competitors, The entire Lady Hornets
team are underclassmen with one Junior, three Sophomores and a freshman.
The winning individual from Lutheran North won the race in a time of
18:54.
In the Boys race, Chillicothe's lone qualifier Hayden
Simmer finished 97th out of 168 entries, finishing in a time of 18:46. He
is the first Hornet Boys state qualifier since 2016.
