Maryville scored twice in the first half and three times in the
second half to beat Chillicothe 5-0 on Tuesday, September 13th.
The Spoofhounds scored 2:45 into the first half. They
followed it up 35 minutes later for a 2-0 Maryville lead at the
half. The Hornets had shots on goal in the first half from Sam
Reeter and Jacob Adams, but failed to get them into the net.
Maryville scored 11 minutes into the second half and again 12
minutes after that and finished 26 minutes into the second half.
The Hornets had unsuccessful shots on goal late in the game from
Gabe Hansen and Sam Reeter. Maryville kept the Hornet defenders busy
with 28 shots on goal compared with 5 for Chillicothe.
Carson Steele and James Mathew took turns guarding the net.
Steele had two saves and Mathew had 21 saves at the net.
Hornets coach Tim Cunningham said "A
very experienced and talented Maryville team took advantage of our
inexperienced but improving squad. We are continuing to learn and
understand what it takes to play at a high level against a challenging
schedule. We are going to continue to get better, together."
