The Chillicothe Hornets got a defensive stop from
Sol'jier Allen in the final seconds to help the team beat
Smithville 33-31 in the consolations semifinals of the
Savannah Tournament.
With seconds left in the game, Smithville in
bounded the basketball underneath their own basket on
low post right. Upon the pass under the bucket,
Chillicothe tied up the ball. The possession arrow was
pointed to Smithville.
On their second inbounds play, they tried a pass
near the high post. The Hornets Allen made a clean swipe
of the ball, knocking it loose. The ball went back court
and time ran out, securing the Hornets first win of the
season.
The battle between the teams was close the entire
game. The Hornets had balanced scoring with three
players leading the way with eight points each.
Chillicothe will now play Savannah in the consolation game
Saturday at 11:30 am.
