Story by Coach
Sophie Chambers
On Monday evening, the St. Pius lady warriors visited
Chillicothe for their annual tennis dual. The warriors have remained
undefeated in the MEC girls' tennis rankings for all of the 2023
season as well as the current 2024 season with their top players
winning matches across the conference dominantly. The same was true
on Monday night when they shut out the lady hornets' tennis team
9-0. St. Pius is now just a few dual wins away from clenching the
team conference championship once again. The lady hornets are still
vying for third place in the MEC just behind St. Pius and Savannah.
They will continue with conference play two more times later this
week against Cameron and Benton.
Coach Chambers knew they were in for a tough night of matches,
but she was proud to see that all of her players won multiple games
off of their strong opponents and some of her JV players even won
their matches. Results were as follows:
Doubles #1 -- Micah Crowe & Keonnia
Morgan lost to Kierra Dunn & Evie Ward 3-8
Doubles #2 -- Bianca Clark & Keeley Shira lost to Manmeet Kaur &
Frances Hess 2-8
Doubles #3 -- Jasmine McLean & Summer Gatson lost to Avery Smith &
Brooklyn Meese 5-8
Singles #1 --Micah Crowe lost to Dunn 2-8
Singles #2 -- Keonnia Morgan lost by medical forfeit to Ward
Singles #3 -- Bianca Clark lost to Kaur 0-8
Singles #4 -- Keely Shira lost to Hess 0-8
Singles #5 -- Jasmine McLean lost to Smith 0-8
Singles #6 -- Sarah George lost to Meese 4-8
