The Chillicothe Hornets Soccer team scored early and often in an 8
to 0 home win over Cameron to open the season.
Six different Hornets found the net with Wyatt
Brandsgaard scoring the first goal of the season. Coach Tim
Cunningham knew his team was ready to play.
"I felt like yesterday, after practice, our guys were
just ready to play someone else after a week since our jamboree."
He said he felt like his team had been locked in after 17 or 18
practices. He also liked his team's quick start.
"I loved our energy to start off with and how
unselfishly we were playing, how everyone were getting touches and
how we were taking advantage of what the defense was giving us."
In addition to the initial Brandsgaard
score, Jacob Adams scored off a Brandsgaard assist. Sam Reeter had
back to back goals off assists from Josh Adams and Brandsgaard.
Brandsgaard scored again off a Jacob Adams assist. Then
it was Gabe Hansen off an Adams assist, Japheth Ojeaga off a Reeter
assist and Shawn Hapes off an Ojeaga assist.
The Cameron Goalkeeper was kept busy, with 8 saves on
goal.
Chillicothe goalkeeper James Mathew, which made
the switch from Football to Soccer, had two saves on goal.
